I know i haven't posted in a while, so here's what's happened so far. My group and I have had five meetings so far, although Brian didn't show up to all of them. He left after the fourth one, so we got a new delegation leader and his name is Warren Miller. Thinking that we've only known him for one meeting, I'm really excited about going with him. However, Brian wasn't the only person who left, a girl named Carson sadly wasn't able to make enough money.
Considering that I'm now going it was really hard to get here. We had a deadline in April, where we had to make half the money. I almost thought that I wasn't going, but I prayed, and I new that if God didn't want me to go, then I wouldn't go. But guess what? God provided for me and my amazing dad was able to pay it off. THANK YOU DADDY. Then there was another dead line in May. And my dad had taken me to dance practice and afterward he took me to his office until noon. My mom then came and picked me up and took me and my three siblings to see Kung Fu Panda 2. 10 minuets before the movie started my dad texted me and said that I was going to Europe, he said he made a deal, his salesmen gave $250.00, and my dads friend who lives in California gave $750.00. I'M GOING TO EUROPE!!!!

The Scholarship
One way I was planning on making the 5 grand towards my trip, was by entering a contest. For the contest I had to write an essay about an achievement. So I wrote about climbing Beacon Rock. I entered it in the contest in December. And on January 11, I was in the car with my dad on the way to school, my dad got a call from my mom saying that People to People called her, and that I won the contest! I won $1000.00! So a grand is out of my way. Now I need $4000. Yea!

How People to People was started
One question you might ask me is "How did People to People begin?" Well I would answer by telling you who started People to People. Guess who? It was started by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. And here's how it started. Eisenhower was President in part of World War 2. President Eisenhower did not like the war, and didn't want there to be a third world war. So to keep that from happening President Dwight D. Eisenhower started People to People and he had only a few students and took them to different countries. He started it to make peace in countries. There were many other presidents who continued on to support People to People. Such as President John F. Kennedy, President Lyndon B. Johnson, President Richard M. Nixon, President Gerald R. Ford, President Ronald F. Reagan, President George H.W. Bush, President William J. Clinton, and President George W. Bush.
My second meeting at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Building
I had another meeting with Brian Cahart, but it was not at Caruso's it was at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Building! So as soon as my mom and I got there Brian told us our schedule for the day. The first thing we did is stated our name, our grade, and the school we attend. Then we went around the room to fill out the bingo paper, like we would take the card and try to figure out who had the same qualities as what the card said. It was basically a game so we could get to know each other. And the fun thing is there are only 9 people in a group, plus my delegation leader, Brian. I also learned the names of my group, Hailey, Megan, Joey, Carson, Oliver, Anne, Tori, me, and Cora who I have a LOT in common with. Then we made posters about what being an Ambassador meant to us like A was for Awesome and M was for Magical, I was pared up with Cora and Joey. After that we played a game called Jeopardy, which was a bunch of trivia questions about England and France. I was on a team with Oliver, Joey, and Anne, and the other team was Tori, Megan, Cora, and Hailey. But my team lost by 20 points.{By the way Carson was absent}then we watched a video called Sights and Sounds of France. Then we played a game where we had to walk onto the right mat so we could get to the other side. Then Brian put a big bag of chocolates in front of us and said we could have as many as we wanted. {That's one of the very many things I like about Brian, he gives us chocolate every meeting because I thinks he knows we all love it}Then we had a tour of the building it was so cool. I had a blast!

People to People Meeting
People to People is a program that takes only a few 6th graders and up on a trip to a country. I was asked to go on that trip. Saturday, 12/18/2010 my delegation teacher, named Brian Carhart had a meeting with my delegation group and I at Caruso's, a sandwich place. We played two games, went over if we had our passports or not and I did not. Brian gave us all a journal that we would take on our trip to Europe. Inside the journal there are sections like Hotel information, Pre-travel journal, Sharing about yourself, Your host family, Interview with a local, Journal topics, Travel journal, Maps, Record of purchases, Signs and symbols, Memories, and Language. I think the journal is pretty cool. I am very excited about this trip. And do you want to know the best part? This is going to be a educational trip, I will be learning about Mona Lisa, and I will also be learning about Cambridge University, and I think that me and my delegation group will be having a tour of Cambridge University. And I will be doing this with friends.
